Eco Design Advisor service leading to improvements in NZ housing

A survey of 700 users of the Eco Design Advisor service has found New Zealanders are increasingly taking action to make their homes more energy efficient. Eco design Advisors give advice for both new-builds and existing dwellings, increasing energy efficiency and performance across the spectrum. Increases in energy efficiency lead to lower household running costs, a healthier population and improvements in comfort and quality of life that are less easy to quantify.

Spokesperson Eion Scott from the Auckland Council says one of the main findings is that 88 percent of those surveyed had made important changes in the home after getting an independent, free, in-home consultation from an Eco Design Advisor – a service provided by some councils. For main findings, see the summary. Full customer survey results for 2013 and 2015 are also available.
